Joe Cornish is set to return to the director's chair to helm Section 6.
Section 6 is a spy thriller that will follow and explore the formation of MI6. This was a project that Universal were keen to make, and make a seven figure purchase for it.
Cornish has seen off the likes of Tom Hooper (The Kings Speech) and David Mackenzie (Starred Up) to land the directing job on this project.
Cornish made his feature film directorial debut back in 2011 with Attack The Block; this will be his second directing project.
Since 2011 Cornish has been working with Edgar Wright on the highly anticipated script for upcoming Marvel film Ant-Man.
As for Section 6, only rising star Jack O'Connell is currently on board to star.
Universal are hoping that Section 6 will be the start of a new spy franchise.
