Joe Swanberg

Joe Swanberg admits that he was nervous about tackling a movie with a bigger budget.

Swanberg is back in the director's chair this week with his new film Drinking Buddies: while it is an independent movie it has the biggest budget he has ever had to play with.

However, he said he quickly realised that all of the extra resources were there to help him make the movie that he wanted to make.

Speaking exclusively to us here at FemaleFirst he said: "It was good. I was nervous going into it, as I thought that would get in the way of what I liked about the smaller movies.

"However, I discovered that all the extra money and extra people were there to help me make the movie that I wanted to make.

"Rather than experiencing that as a hurdle towards the thing that I wanted to do, it just made it that much easier to get there in a quicker and more convenient way. It was really a great experience: it was the most fun I have ever had making a movie."

Drinking Buddies sees Swanberg bring together a fantastic cast as Olivia Wilde, Jake Johnson, Anna Kendrick and Ron Livingston are all on board.

The movie has been playing on the festival circuit and is being met well by audiences and critics.

As for Swanberg we are going to be seeing him back in the director's chair with Happy Christmas - a movie that he has already finished filming.

Drinking Buddies is released 1st November.
