The 23-year-old actor plays deserting Stormtrooper Finn in 'The Force Awakens' last year and in the continuing sci-fi saga.

In 'Episode VII', Finn forms a close bond with X-wing fighter pilot Poe - played by Oscar Isaac - after rescuing him from the clutches of the First Order and speculation the two characters could become more than friends has been rampant online.

Although Boyega is sure the two guys just enjoy a "bromance" in a galaxy far, far away he likes to have fun with the idea with fans.

Speaking backstage at the BAFTA Awards - at which he took home the EE Rising Star prize - Boyega cheekily said: "As far as I'm concerned, when J.J. (Abrams) sat us down to go through the script, it was a bromance. But now I'm learning what Mark Hamill said before when he didn't know that Darth Vader was Luke's father. You never know what they're going to pull. I'm looking at the director Rian (Johnson) closely so he can get me involved early, so I can prepare myself. So who knows?

"What's so funny, I posted a video the other day of myself working out, skipping, and in the background Oscar is just like, 'Yeah baby go on!' and people just went crazy."

Boyega shared the video with his 506,000 followers on Twitter last week, and captioned the clip: "@mrcalliet influenced my cardio routine today. Doesn't hurt that I have Oscar Isaac in the background cheering me on. (sic)"

Shooting on 'Star Wars Episode VIII' began on Monday (15.02.16) and returning actors Boyega and Isaac will be joined in the sequel by Daisy Ridley, who is reprising her role as Rey, Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren and Carrie Fisher as Leia Organa.
