Krasinski was one of the actors who were originally in the mix to take on the role of Captain America, a part that originally went to Chris Evans.

And while the actor may have missed out on the role, he admits that he still keen to be part of the MCU should the right role come around for him. I guess we are going to have to wait and see if this happens.

Speaking to Collider, the actor said: "Absolutely. My whole thing is I'm such a huge fan of the Marvel movies, so if there are any characters left for sure, bang the drum [laughs].

"Just to be in that world, they're really well-made and they seem like they're having a lot of fun and I happen to be friends with a whole bunch of those guys and girls, so to me it would be a great time, I'd love it."

2016 has been a busy year for Krasinski as he is about to make his feature film directorial debut with The Hollars. While the actor already has some episodes of The Office under his belt, this will be his first leap into feature film.

The Hollars will mix elements of comedy, drama and romance and will see Krasinski star in the film as well as being in the director's chair. Sharlto Copley, Charlie Day and Richard Jenkins are just some of the other names that are on board.

And we are also going to be seeing Krasinski return to the small screen with a new Jack Ryan television series. The show will see Krasinski follow in the footsteps of Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and Chris Pine, who have all played Jack Ryan.

The actor has also lent his voice to new animated film Animal Crackers, which is set to hit the big screen next year.

The Hollars is set to be released in the U.S. on 26th August. There is currently no official UK release date for the film.
