Jurassic World has congratulated Star Wars: The Force Awakens for its huge box office success.

Earlier this year, Jurassic World stormed the global box office in its opening weekend taking $525 million - breaking the record previously held by Avengers. Graciously, Kevin Feige took to Twitter to congratulate their success.

This weekend the record has been broken again as Star Wars: The Force Awakens took $529 million at the global box office - eclipsing the total posted by Jurassic World earlier this year.

And Jurassic World producer Frank Marshall has also been in fine form as he took to Twitter with a great poster congratulating their success:

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit the big screen last Thursday and has been breaking box office records around the globe. Here in the UK, it had the biggest opening day, biggest three-day opening, and biggest four-day opening as it grossed over £32 million.

The movie has already earnt back its $200 million budget and looks well on course to join the billion dollar club. It is Jurassic World that currently holds the record as the quickest film to reach that milestone - will Star Wars: The Force Awakens do it in less than thirteen days?

We have already seen four movies gross over $1 billion at the box office this year, and The Force Awakens is looking to join Jurassic World, Fast & Furious 7, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Minions.

The movie sees J.J. Abrams in the director's chair but he will not be returning for Episode VIII, as Rian Johnson will take over the helm for the first time.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is out now.
