Jurassic World Makes It Three Weeks As U.S. #1

Jurassic World has made it three weeks at the top of the U.S. box office after another tight battle with Inside Out for the #1 spot.

Jurassic World took a further $52,2 million over the weekend to narrowly hold off Inside Out once again - the pair battled it out for the top spot last weekend, but this weekend it was an even closer fight.

The movie has now taken over $1,237 billion and has now climbed to number eight in the all time list; overtaking the likes of Transformers: Dark of the Moon and Iron Man 3 and now has its sights set on Frozen at seven.

Inside Out as also a non-mover this weekend as it stayed put at number two. The movie took over $52 million over the weekend as it battled to take the #1 spot from Jurassic World. As well as box office success, Inside Out has been met with critical acclaim and is already one of the most celebrated animation movies of 2015.

The movie sees Pete Docter back in the director's chair and is the first Pixar movie to hit the big screen since Monsters University back in the summer of 2013.

Comedy Ted 2 was the highest new entry inside the top ten this week as it opened at number three. The movie comes three years after the success of the first and sees Mark Wahlberg and Seth MacFarlane reunite.

Max was new at four, while Spy was down two places this week as it rounded off the top five. San Andreas fell out of the top five for the first time as it was another two place faller from four to number six.

Dope and Insidious Chapter 3 were also down two spots as they finished the weekend at seven and eight. Mad Max: Fury Road was down just one this weekend at number nine.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is the second highest grossing movie of 2015 and has, so far, grossed in excess of $1.3 billion worldwide, however, it was down one place this week as it rounded off the top ten.
