Mara took over the role of Susan Storm when the Fantastic Four franchise was rebooted last year by filmmaker Josh Trank. However, the film was not received well critically and struggled at the box office and the future of the franchise is unknown.

But Mara follows in the footsteps of her co-star Miles Teller by revealing that she would be up for returning for a second Fantastic Four film.

Speaking to IGN about a possible sequel, the actress said; Oh yeah, I'd love to be a part of a Fantastic Four sequel or whatever they may or may not have in store for us.

"I know that all of the guys feel the same way, we love working with each other and we would love to actually play these characters in another way somehow in the future. I have no idea if that's actually true, if that will happen, but I would be really happy to do it."

Fantastic Four saw Mara and Teller star alongside Michael B. Jordan and Jamie Bell in the roles of Susan Story, Reed Richards, Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm. Toby Kebbell was also on the cast list as Victor Von Doom.

Before the release of Fantastic Four last year, there was a sequel already in the pipeline but the status of that project is currently unclear, as Fox have not moved forward with it just yet.

By the end of its theatrical run, Fantastic Four grossed $168 million - only just making back its $120 million budget. It was the first Fantastic Four film since Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer in 2007.

As for Mara, she is back on the big screen next week as she leads an all-star cast in Morgan, which sees her star alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, Paul Giamatti, Rose Leslie, and Toby Jones.

It has been a busy year for the actress as she has also completed work on The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards and Megan Leavey, in which she will take on the title role.

Megan Leavey will sees her work with filmmaker Gabriela Cowperthwaite, while Tom Felton, Common, Edie Falco, Bradley Whitford, and Will Patton are also on board.
