It is still uncertain if an Iron Man 4 will hit the big screen starring Robert Downey Jr, with Kevin Feige saying 'who the heck knows'.

Iron Man 3 hit the big screen last summer, and while a Captain America 3 and a Thor 3 are in the pipeline, there has been no mention of another solo outing for the popular Iron Man.

Bear in mind that Iron Man 3 is the only solo Marvel film that has grossed over $1 billion: Iron Man 3 was the highest grossing film of 2013.

And Feige refused to be drawn into any speculation when asked about Iron Man's future by Collider:

"Of course anything’s a possibility. Who the heck knows? We have a lot of work to go to finish Avengers 2.

"We have a lot of work for whatever Avengers 3 is, that’s all folks need to know. Who knows what happens after that."

Downey Jr will be back next year in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which will see him reunite with Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, and Mark Ruffalo.

Feige also seems to confirm that we will be seeing Iron Man in a third Avengers films.

Earlier this week five new release dates were announced for Marvel film, however, the movies are still being kept under wraps.

We will see Marvel films hit the big screen on July 208th and November 3rd 2017, July 28th and November 2nd 2018 and May 3rd 2019.

We already know that Ant Man will kick of Phase 3 next summer, with Captain America 3 to follow in 2016.
