Kevin Spacey was rumoured to have been cast in the forthcoming James Bond film but claims he doesn't know why this is circulating, with him never having even read a script.

Spacey  has addressed speculation that he will play a villain in the upcoming picture and claims he's never even read a script for the movie about the famed secret agent.

In an interview with the BBC, the 54-year-old star said: "I don't know why people keep writing about this. I've never read a script, I'm not doing the next James Bond movie. No.

"I don't know who started the rumour, but stop it."

The interviewer joked: "I think it's probably [director] Sam Mendes."

Spacey replied: "No, he didn't. I think if he wanted me he would have offered me the role. I don't even know if there is a role."

'Bond 24' - which is the working title for the 24th film in famed series - has Daniel Craig returning as Bond, Sam Mendes in the director's seat and John Logan helping to pen the script.

Meanwhile, Spacey is set to hit the big screen later this year in 'Horrible Bosses 2' and documentary 'Unity' which he narrates.
