Laura Dern has revealed that David Lynch is set to make a return to the director's chair.

Lynch has not helmed a movie since Inland Empire back in 2006 - which Dern starred in - but he could be set to make his return.

Dern has hinted that the filmmaker is working on a new project, and that she is going to be part of it.

Speaking to Digital Spy, the actress said: "He is cooking, he's cooking up trouble, and I will be part of that trouble," she told Digital Spy.

"He's the consummate renaissance man, he just makes art wherever he can get his hands on it.

"But film, ultimately, I know is his great love, and I think he will always circle back to it. He's definitely cooking."

Dern is back in the big screen this week as she is set to star in the adaptation of The Fault In Our Stars.

The movie is based on the John Green novel, and will see Dern play Shailene Woodley's mother.

The actress has also completed work on When The Game Stands Tall, Wild, 99 Homes, and Stings. She is currently working on Mothers Day.

Mothers Day sees Paul Duddridge in the director's chair, while Dern stars alongside Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon, and Sharon Stone.
