The 63-year-old actor is sticking to his favourite genre and will play the lead role in Studiocanal's latest offering.

The story is based on a businessman who is on his daily commute home when he accidently gets caught up in a criminal conspiracy.

Liam's character springs into action when his life and the lives of the people on his commute are threatened.

The Irish actor is a regular face in suspense thrillers having been seen in 'Taken 3' and Warner Bros.' 'Run All Night' earlier this year.

Other upcoming credits for the actor include Martin Scorsese's 'Silence' and 'When a Monster Calls' both due to hit screens next year.

Meanwhile, the 'Taken' franchise is to be made into a NBC TV series.

Not surprising, since the first film in the trio made $226m worldwide with 'Taken 2' bringing in a global total of $376m.

The last film released on January 9 pulled in $325m worldwide.

'The Commuter' is slated to begin filming in New York in April 2016.
