Lucy Hale

Lucy Hale has described her audition for Fifty Shades of Grey as 'very uncomfortable.'

Hale was just one of the actresses who read for the central role of Anastasia Steele in the adaptation of the E.L James novel of the same name.

Fifty Shades of Grey was one of the riskiest projects that Hale has auditioned for, and she says it was unlike any other audition she has done.

Speaking to MTV News, the actress said: "It was a two-page monologue of exactly what you would think it would be.

"Very uncomfortable, but it was sort of one of those things where you just had to go for it or you're just gonna look lame - hopefully, I didn't look lame, but yeah.

"It was unlike any audition I have ever done before in my life. Let's just say I wouldn't want my grandma watching this audition tape."

The likes of Kristen Stewart and Amanda Seyfried were just some of the names that were also linked with the role, but Dakota Johnson was finally cast.

Jamie Dornan is on board as Christian Grey, while Sam Taylor-Wood is in the director's chair.
