Evans teamed up with Wheatley for the first time on High-Rise, which is set to hit the big screen later this year, and he has already signed up to work on Free Fire.

Free Fire sees Wheatley on directing and writing duties and Evans talks about how delighted he is to be working with the filmmaker for a second time.

Speaking to the Press Association, the actor said: "I am penciled in to do Ben's next movie Free Fire, which is exciting. Ben Wheatley is a wonderful director. It's a great script. He's written it, and he's directing it, so getting to work with him was an offer I couldn't refuse," Luke said.

"It's always nice to find your feet with a director and have a good relationship, because it's such an important relationship. I'm very happy about working with Ben again."

Filming is set to get underway on Free Fire later this year, and will see Evans team up with Olivia Wilde, Cillian Murphy, and Armie Hammer.

However, High-Rise is a movie that is already in the can and is set to be the first film for Evans since the huge success of The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

High-Rise is based on the book by J, G, Ballard and will see Evans star alongside Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons, Sienna Miller, Elisabeth Moss, and James Purefoy.

And Evans talked about what we can expect from that movie, he continued: "It's quite a dark story and there are a few shocking moments in it. I think it will be a very interesting film for the audience because these sort of films rarely get made with this kind of care, attention and love.

"This book, one of JG Ballard's novels, is probably the hardest one to bring to the screen. Jeremy Thomas (producer) is the man because he's made it happen."

Evans has also been linked to roles in Three Seconds - directed by Otto Bathurst - and Message from the King with Teresa Palmer and Chadwick Boseman.
