Luke Evans is set to return to the role of Bard the Bowman this December with The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, and he features in a brand new character poster.

We have already been treated to artwork featuring Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf, Galadriel, and Legolas so far this week, and now it is the turn of one of the franchise’s newest characters.

We were introduced to the character of Bard for the first time back in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and he will be back for the third and final instalment in this popular trilogy.

Peter Jackson will return to the director’s chair for Battle of the Five Armies, which will be his sixth and final movie in Middle Earth.

The final film will pick up where the second left off, with Laketown under threat from Smaug, after the dwarves reclaimed their home from the dragon.

Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honour to hoard it as Bilbo’s frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice. But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain.

As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide – unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

A terrific cast list will unite one final time as Evans is joined by Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett, Orlando Bloom, and Evangeline Lilly.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is released 12th December.
