Lupita Nyong'o has heaped praise on The Jungle Book director Jon Favreau, who she has teamed up with for the first time on this new live-action movie.

Nyong'o was on the red carpet at the world premiere earlier this week and praised Favreau's ability to push this new story forward but pay homage to what had gone before.

"Jon Favreau's strength as a filmmaker today is that he is able to push things forward but also honour the things that have come before. That is something that I respect in him and admire in him. That was one of the many reasons that I was looking forward to working with him on this."

The Oscar-winner has lent her voice to the character of Raksha as she stars alongside Idris Elba, Scarlet Johansson, Bill Murray, Christopher Walken, Ben Kingsley, Giancarlo Esposito, and Neel Sethi.

The Jungle Book is one of the most highly anticipated April movies and is set to be another huge box office success for Disney - a studio that has really been on a high for the last year or so with hit movie after hit movie.

As for Nyong'o she has been enjoying success with a small movie called Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens and the actress is set to reprise the role of Maz Kanata in Star Wars: Episode VIII.

Filming is already under way on the new film and will see Rian Johnson take over the director's chair from J.J. Abrams.

The Jungle Book is released 15th April.
