M. Night Shyamalan says he has been giving more thought to an Unbreakable 2.

There has been a long standing rumour that the director was interested in making a sequel to the 2000 film, which starred Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson.

And it sees that the director has been giving more thought to the project of late and is interested in going ahead and making a second film.

When asked if he had thought further about an Unbreakable sequel by MTV the director said: "I have seriously, actually. And again, it’s the same conversation we’ve been having, which is as long as it can be connected to something I’m feeling right now then it’ll work for me, it’ll be valid and I’ll enjoy it.

"If I feel like it’s a mechanical thing = I’m doing it because it’ll be profitable or successful - it’ll just be so hollow.

"I can look at [my] movies and regardless of their success or their reception they’re honest to me and they represent who I am. That’s an amazing thing to be able to say, you know?

"So my agenda is to make another one - I just have to figure out a plot and a thing that makes sense... I’m close. I’m closer. On my dresser table I have like a whole list of notes about it."

Should Unbreakable 2 happed this will be the first time that Shyamalan has made a sequel to any of his movies.

But he will be back in the director's chair next week when he helms After Earth, his first movie in three years.

The science fiction film will see him team up with Will and Jaden Smith for the first time as they play father and son.

After Earth is released 7th June.
