The Mad Max franchise makes a big screen return next year as Tom Hardy takes over the central role of Max Rockatansky for the first time, while George Miller is back in the director's chair.

Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max: Fury Road

Mad Max is a movie that has been pushed back on the film schedule once or twice, but now we are on the verge of seeing Hardy, Charlize Theron, and Nicholas Hoult team up for the first time in what promises to be an action packed instalment.

Miller has been behind the Mad Max movies from the very beginning and it is great to see him back at the helm what could be the biggest movie in the franchise to date. The brand new full-length trailer for the movie has arrived and we have it for you to take a look at:

Mad Max will be the first time that FemaleFirst favourite Hardy has shared the screen with Theron, while they and Hoult are joined on the cast list by Zoe Kravitz, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, and Nathan Jones.

Haunted by his turbulent past, Mad Max believes the best way to survive is to wander alone. Nevertheless, he becomes swept up with a group fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by an elite Imperator, Furiosa.

They are escaping a Citadel tyrannized by the Immortan Joe, from whom something irreplaceable has been taken. Enraged, the Warlord marshals all his gangs and pursues the rebels ruthlessly in the high-octane Road War that follows.

Mad Max: Fury Road will hit the big screen thirty years after Mad Max: Thunderdome back in 1985, and I am excited to see what Miller and this brand new and exciting cast deliver as they try to take this franchise forward.

Mad Max: Fury Road is released 15th May 2015
