Mark Hamill says it has been 'wonderful' to reunite with his Star Wars co-stars.

Hamill is set to reprise the role of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode VII - a movie that will also sees Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher return to the roles of Han Solo and Princess Leia.

And the actor admits that it has all been so unexpected.

Speaking to the Press Association, the actor said: "I hadn't seen Tony Daniels (C-3PO) or Carrie [Fisher] (Princess Leia) or Harrison [Ford] (Han Solo) or Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca) in ages.

"It was wonderful to see them again, because I didn't expect to.

"Again, this is all so unexpected. It's like getting out that pair of pants you haven't worn in five years and finding a 20-dollar bill in the pocket. Oh, this is nice."

J.J. Abrams is in the director's chair for the film, and shooting has already got underway.

Earlier this week it was announced that Lupita Nyong's and Gwendoline Christie have also been cast in the film.

Star Wars: Episode VII is released 18th December 2015.
