Wahlberg took over the central role in the Transformers franchise this summer as he took on the role of new character Cade Yeager.

Transformers: Age of Extinction saw Wahlberg reunite with his Pain & Gain filmmaker Michael Bay as he returned to the helm of the franchise for the fourth time.

And while there is nothing confirmed about a fifth Transformers film, Wahlberg is expecting to return. Speaking to MTV, the actor said: "I committed to doing a couple more. I can't speak for Mr. Bay but something tells me we'll be on the set soon."

Age of Extinction is the first Transformers movie to hit the big screen since Dark of the Moon back in 2011, and went on to be the most successful movie of the year. It is the only film to gross over $1 billion at the box office in 2014.

As for Wahlberg, he will be back in the new year with his latest movie The Gambler, a crime/drama that sees Rupert Wyatt back in the director's chair.

The actor has also completed work on Mojave and Ted 2 and is currently working on new comedy Daddy's Home. The movie will see him star alongside Will Ferrell for a second time, while Sean Anders and John Morris are in the director's chair.
