Martin Freeman will not be playing a 'super-person' in Captain America: Civil War, according to Mark Millar.

Freeman was the latest big name and new face to be added to the cast list of Civil War - however, who he would be playing in the upcoming film has, so far, been kept under wraps.

However, Millar has dropped a little hint that we will not be seeing the Sherlock star in any kind of superhero costume.

Speaking to Radio Times, he said: "I know who he's playing in the film, but I guess it's still a secret. The character is not a super-person, it's somebody who's... well, I don't want to spoil it for anybody but he's not going to be in costume.

"All I'll say is, he's not the Red Skull."

The cast list for Civil War is growing day by day as it was also announced last week that Emily VanCamp would be back as Agent 13 aka Sharon Carter - we were introduced to her for the first time back in Captain America: The Winter Soldier last year.

Filming on the movie has already got underway and will see Anthony and Joe Russo back in the director's chair for the second Captain America movie. The duo are also set to helm Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2 - which is expected to start filming next year.

Chris Evans has already hinted that Civil War will set up events and the 'real battle' in Infinity War as he returns to the central role of Steve Rodgers.

Evans is joined by some familiar faces as Scarlett Johansson and Anthony Mackie are back as Black Widow and Falcon. Robert Downey Jr, Jeremy Renner, Elizabeth Olsen, and Paul Bettany will also be joining the Captain America franchise for the first time as Iron Man, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, and The Vision.

Daniel Bruhl is one of the other new faces joining the franchise for the first time, while we are going to be introduced to Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther for the first time.

Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April 2016
