Bryan Singer says Michael Fassbender made him cry when shooting a scene from X-Men: Apocalypse.

Singer returns to the director's chair for the already highly anticipated X-Men: Apocalypse, in what will be his fourth X-Men film at the helm.

The movie sees Singer reunite with actor Michael Fassbender, who is back as Magneto, and the Oscar-nominated actor made Singer do something that he has never done during filming before... cry.

Speaking to The Movie Report, the director said: "Michael Fassbender did something so wonderful in this movie... We're at the end of the scene, and he asked me not to call cut and when the scene was over, he continued and did something that made me cry in the tent; I've never done that before."

And it seems the Singer was not the only one who was moved by Fassbender. Singer continued: "The head of my company grabbed a Kleenex. Simon Kinberg, the writer who has no emotions at all, actually became emotional.

"It was so beautiful, I've never seen an actor do this for me and [Fassbender] just too the scene to a whole 'nother level."

Fassbender will, once again, star alongside James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, and Nicholas Hoult as they return to their roles of Charles Xavier, Mystique, and Beast in what is the first X-Men movie since the huge critical and commercial success of X-Men: Days of Future Past.

We haven't seen Singer in the director's chair since the last X-Men movie and it is great to see him back at the helm of another movie in this very popular comic book franchise.

2016 is going to be a great year for the comic book movie - there are a whole host of films in this genre set to hit the big screen - and X-Men: Apocalypse is set to be one that's not to be missed.

Singer has brought together a terrific cast list as Oscar Isaac, Sophie Turner, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Tye Sheridan are some of the new faces that are on board for the first time.

X-Men: Apocalypse is released 19th May.
