Michelle Pfeiffer

Michelle Pfeiffer says she does regret turning down roles that went on to be hit films.

Pfeiffer is one of Hollywood's biggest stars who has enjoyed a very successful acting career - but there are one of two roles that she did let slip through her fingers.

The actress was offered the role of Clarice in Silence of the Lambs; a role that saw Jodie Foster pick up a Best Actress Oscar for her performance.

She also turned the role of Vivian Ward in romantic comedy Pretty Woman; a role that was the breakthrough film for Julia Roberts. She picked up a Best Actress Oscar nomination for that role.

Speaking about some of the decisions that she made Pfeiffer said: "I don't have an innate commercial nous. I'm always wrong."

Pfeiffer will be back on the big screen this month as she teams up with Robert De Niro in The Family.

The crime comedy follows the The Manzoni family, a notorious mafia clan, who are relocated to Normandy, France under the witness protection program.

The Family is released 22nd November.
