Milla Jovovich could be joining 'The Expendables 3'.

The former supermodel looks to be the next surprising addition to the hit franchise's cast, which has previously been exclusively formed of veteran male action movie heroes.

The 37-year-old star earned her action stripes in the 'Resident Evil' series, in which she plays amnesiac killing machine Alice.

Jovovich is likely to join Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage and Wesley Snipes in the third installment since the A-list actors are all in negotiations, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said during a conference call with investors on Friday (31.05.13), TheWrap.com reports.

Producer Sylvester Stallone revealed in March he was hoping to cast some "young bloods", as well as finding a female lead who can encapsulate the "tough" feel of the film.

He wrote on Twitter: " Writing EX3 at the moment... EX3 needs NEW blood and more humour.....By young I mean 22 to 27. Not big bruisers but tech wizard, super brains and a young woman who is not a sex symbol but funny ,tough,REAL (sic)"

'Rush Hour' actor Chan recently said he may not be able to star in the film because of prior commitments, but was doing his best to make it happen.

Jason Statham, Bruce Willis, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Liam Hemsworth, Dolph Lundgren and Jet Li all star in 'The Expendables', alongside Stallone.

Production begins in August for an expected 2014 release.
