Olivia Wilde

Olivia Wilde believes there are more chances of getting great female roles in independent film.

Wilde has moved between bigger studio projects and smaller indie roles during in her career.

However it is the independent roles such as Drinking Buddies that have given her something to truly get her teeth into.

Speaking to Variety, she said: "I do think you find more opportunities to play more dynamic characters as a woman in the independent sphere.

"I think people take bigger risks because there's less money at stake. When you're dealing with corporate dollars, they want to make corporate decisions."

Wilde is back on the big screen this summer as she has teamed up with director Paul Haggis for Third Person.

Haggis has written and directed the film, which follows three interlocked love stories in Rome, Paris & New York, and marks the first time that Wilde has worked with the filmmaker.

Wilde has also completed work on The Longest Week, Lazarus, and Black Dog, Red Dog.
