Today (October 6), the first trailer for the upcoming Pacific Rim sequel – Pacific Rim Uprising – was revealed, promising a plethora of action and excitement when the film comes to the big screen. You can check out the new teaser below:
John Boyega leads the trailer as the rebellious Jake Pentecost. Known by many thanks to his legendary father who gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the villainous Kaiju, he was once a promising Jaeger pilot, but has since abandoned his training and become caught up in a criminal underworld that’s as dangerous as it is alluring.
Despite his choices, Jake is given the chance to put everything behind him and help save the world when an unstoppable threat is unleashed, determined to bring the universe to its knees. Jake’s estranged sister Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) is the person to give him that second chance, as the leader of a new generation of pilots who have grown up overshadowed by war. Seeking justice for those who have lost their lives, they’re forced to come together if they’re to tackle the looming threat of human extinction.
The pair are joined by Jake’s rival pilot Lambert (Scott Eastwood), a man who’s extremely talented at what he does; and 15-year-old Jaeger hacker Amara (Cailee Spaney) who’s one of the most skilled people in her field.
Coming together, the foursome become one of the most powerful defense forces to ever walk the planet and in Uprising, they’ll set course for a new adventure on a scale like non they’ve ever seen before.
Jing Tian, Burn Gorman, Adria Arjona and Charlie Day all also star in the film, with Steven S. DeKnight sitting in the Director’s Chair. Check out a selection of new images along with a brilliant new poster for the film below:
