Unafraid to inject a slice of humour into what looks to be one of the most action-packed movies of the year, Power Rangers has today been showcased in its biggest trailer so far. Longtime fans of the series will find a lot of exciting little nods in the new visuals, which offer up our first look at Bryan Cranston’s character Zordon, along with an extended look at the villainous Goldar, Elizabeth Banks villainess Rita Repulsa and the lifesaving Megazord.

Those who were disappointed in the Power Rangers launch trailer revealed last October due to its dark and gloomy visuals should now be adequately pleased; their voices have been listened to and those behind the blockbuster movie have now showcased a lighter look at the world they’re creating and adapting.

More character interaction and the relationship between our five Power Rangers is given here, with the new trailer looking to please both those relatively new to the franchise and those who have been with it for some time.

Saving the world from a bunch of villains with super-human abilities is something that’s done A LOT in the film universe today, so if Power Rangers is to be a success, it has to find the balance of relying heavily on its chunky back catalogue and finding something new to give to audiences.

Power Rangers officially debuts in cinemas and theaters in the UK and USA on March 24.
