Hitting cinemas across the UK next year, Red Sparrow will follow the story of Dominika Egorova (Jennifer Lawrence), a woman drafted against her will to become a ‘sparrow’. Forced to use her body as a weapon, she’s one of the Russian security service’s biggest secrets, trained as a seductress through a dehumanising process. Eventually emerging as one of the strongest aspects of the business, Egorova discovers just how powerful she can be in the usually unjust system, and when she’s given her first target, a CIA officer named Nate Nash (Joel Edgerton), things quickly go awry.
Falling into a deceptive spiral of give-and-take, the pair find an attraction towards one another that threatens not only their careers, but their allegiances and the security of both Russia and the United States.
Based on the book of the same name by former CIA officer Jason Matthews, Red Sparrow reunites Lawrence with director Francis Lawrence, with Matthias Schoenaerts, Charlotte Rampling, Mary-Louise Parker and Jeremy Irons all also starring.
Red Sparrow comes to UK cinemas in March 2018.
