Rosamund Pike

Rosamund Pike says that she was excited and scared when she was told that she had landed the role of Amy Dunne in Gone Girl.

Pike returns to the big screen this week as she teams up with Ben Affleck for the first time for the adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel.

And while this is a terrific role for the actress, she reveals there were mixed emotions when she knew she had landed the part.

Speaking to Variety, the actress said: "I was unbelievably excited and unbelievably scared. You suddenly feel so small.

"I thought, 'I'm embarking on this thing I've always wanted'. Someone is giving me that chance, which is something I've wanted since I've been a tiny girl."

There could be even more excitement for Pike going forward, as she is already surrounded in Oscar talk for her performance.

Gone Girl is one of the most anticipated films of the autumn, and we will have to wait to see if the movie and the actors will be recognised when the awards season rolls around.

2014 has already been a busy year for Pike, as we have also seen her in A Long Way Down, Hector and the Search for Happiness and What We Did on our Holiday.

The actress has also completed work on Return to Sender, which sees her team up with filmmaker Fouad Mikati.

Gone Girl is out now.
