Rosamund Pike

Rosamund Pike has played down Oscar talk surrounding her performance in Gone Girl.

Pike teams up with director David Fincher and Ben Affleck for the adaptation of the Gillian Flynn novel, which is one of the most anticipated films of the autumn.

And the early reviews see Pike winning over the critics, with some of them suggesting she may well be in the Oscar mix come the beginning next year.

However, Pike is not getting carried away with it all, but admits that it is 'lovely' to be talked about in that way.

Speaking to EntertainmentWise, the actress said: "I’ve been completely protected from that, I don’t know what to say but I think people are always looking for news and something to say and I’m sure next week it will be somebody else so that’s generally what I think.

"It's lovely but I think we're in this giddy merry-go-round and I’m the next one on."

Gone Girl sees Pike team up with Affleck for the first time as they play husband and wife in the new drama. Her character disappears and her husband is suspected of her murder.

Before we see Pike star in Gone Girl, she is back on the big screen this week with What We Did On Our Holiday, a comedy that sees her star alongside David Tennant and Billy Connolly.

Gone Girl is released 2nd October.
