The 40-year-old hunk plays Wade Wilson (Deadpool), who gains super-powers after undergoing an experimental regenerative mutation to cure his cancer, in the superhero blockbuster and would love to see a sequel with 48-year-old Jackman, who has played the titular mutant since 2000's 'X-Men'.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said: "I want Deadpool and Wolverine in a movie together."

However, the Hollywood hunk admits it could take some persuading for Jackman to agree to work on a sequel and he may have to garner the support of his online followers.

Reynolds admitted: "What we're gonna have to do is convince Hugh.

"If anything, I'm going to need to do what I can to get my internet friends back on board to help rally another cause down the line."

It might be some time before fans of both superhero franchises see Deadpool (Reynolds) and Wolverine (Jackman) appear on-screen together, as the new 'Wolverine' flick 'Logan' is taking over the lead star's schedule at present.

Meanwhile, Jackman's 'Logan' co-star Stephen Merchant recently hailed his performance as "formidable" in the eagerly-anticipated movie, which hits screens in March 2017.

The 41-year-old British actor plays Caliban opposite the 48-year-old star as Wolverine in the third standalone movie about the metal-clawed superhero and he was blown away with how much "fun" he was to work with.

Asked what it was like acting alongside the Hollywood legend, he exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "Oh yeah, that was enormous fun, he's one of the nicest men you could work with, all the rumours you have heard about how lovely and accommodating and lovely he is, is all true, he's just formidable talent."
