Sam Mendes says that he will not direct another Bond movie after he has completed work on Spectre.

Spectre will be the second consecutive Bond movie for the Oscar winning filmmaker, who steered Skyfall to a billion dollar success back in 2012.

Mendes looked set not to return to the director's chair for Spectre, which sees him reunite with actor Daniel Craig, but was tempted back, However, he admits that this will be his last 007 venture.

Speaking to BBC Radio's Test Match Special, the director said: "I said no to the last one and then ended up doing it, and was pilloried by all my friends. But I do think this is probably it."

"I don't think I could go down that road again," he said. "You do have to put everything else on hold."

While Mendes has called his experience on the two Bond movies a 'life-changing thing' he has dedicated five years to bring both Skyfall and Spectre to the big screen.

He continued: "It feels almost, even though we've just finished shooting it, like one big experience and it was a fantastic life-changing thing. It really is more a lifestyle choice than a job."

Spectre is set to be the fourth outing for Craig as 007 - many are hinting that it could be his last after rumours surfaced earlier this year that Damien Lewis was the favourite to take over the role of Bond after Craig steps down.

Mendes has assembled a great cast for the film as Craig is joined by Christoph Waltz, Monica Bellucci, Dave Bautista, Lea Seydoux, and Andrew Scott.

However, there are some other familiar faces to watch out for as Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, and Naomie Harris are back as M, Q and Eve Moneypenny.

Spectre is one of the most anticipated films of 2015 and is set to be one of the biggest movies of the year. Can it follow in the footsteps of Skyfall and break $1 billion? Can it do battle with the likes of Jurassic World and Fast & Furious 7 to become one of the highest grossing movies of the year? I guess we are going to have to wait and see.

Spectre is released 6th November.
