Bad news for Marvel fans... we are not going to be seeing Samuel L. Jackson make an appearance in Captain America: Civil War.

Jackson and the role of Nick Fury has been a constant throughout the series of movies ever since he made his cameo at the end of Iron Man back in 2008.

However, the actor has revealed that will not be on the cast list for the third Captain America solo film - which is shooting right now.

Speaking to Collider, the actor said: "I'm not in Captain America 3. I can't figure that out, but I'm not.

"I guess I'm still out there, trying to figure out what happened to SHIELD and who these other people are."

We last saw Jackson in the role of Fury earlier this year in Avengers: Age of Ultron, which has gone on to gross over $1 billion at the global box office so far.

Captain America: Civil War is set to kick of Phase three of Marvel movies next year and will see Chris Evans reprise the title role. Scarlett Johansson and Anthony Mackie will be returning to the franchise, while Robert Downey Jr and Jeremy Renner are two of the big names that are appearing in the Captain America franchise for the first time.

We are also going to get a second look at Paul Rudd aka Ant-Man in the film, while we are going to be introduced to Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther.

The movie will see Anthony and Joe Russo return to the director's chair for their second consecutive Captain America movie. They steered Winter Soldier to critical and commercial success in 2014 and I cannot wait to see what they do with this latest instalment. The directing sibling will go on to direct both parts of Avengers: Infinity War.

Civil War is one of the most iconic storylines from the comics and will see heroes that were once on the same side divided when the government steps in and try to make 'superheroes' work for them.

Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April 2016.
