Dwayne Johnson continues to show that he is a major box office drawn as San Andreas is his second hit film of the summer - it comes hot off the heels of the success of Fast & Furious 7.

The movie has already toppled the box office in the U.S. and took over £4.6 million to end the reign of Pitch Perfect 2.

Pitch Perfect 2 slipped just a single place this week to number two as it continues to perform well at the global box office - it has already surpassed the box office success of the first movie.

Mad Max: Fury Road and Tomorrowland: The World Beyond were both also down one as they ended the weekend at three and four.

Avengers: Age of Ultron stayed put at five and has now grossed over £47 million at the UK box office alone.

Age of Ultron looks set to leap-frog Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 to become the fifth highest grossing movie of all time. However, Avengers Assemble is coming under increasing pressure from Fast & Furious 7 and may slip to fourth in the not too distant future.

Poltergeist was this week's biggest faller as it dropped two places from four to six - falling out of the top five after just one week. Man Up was the second new entry inside the top ten as the Simon Pegg and Lake Bell comedy opened at number seven.

Home was a second none-mover at eight, while Two By Two was the only movie on the up this week; the film jumped a single place from ten to number nine.

Danny Collins rounded off the top ten and was the third and final new entry. The movie marks the return of Al Pacino to the big screen, while Dan Fogelman made his feature film directorial debut with the film.
