San Andreas is a second consecutive #1 movie for Dwayne Johnson, who has already enjoyed big box office success with Fast & Furious 7 - San Andreas is his first big screen leading role since Hercules last year.

The movie follows Johnson - a rescue chopper pilot as he set out to save his daughter after a huge earthquake rocks California. The movie sees Johnson reunite with director Brad Peyton for their second movie together - they first collaborated on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.

There was no move for Pitch Perfect 2 at number two as the movie continues to perform well at the global box office. However, it was a two place drop for George Clooney's Tomorrowland after just a single week in the number one spot.

Mad Max: Fury Road has already grossed over $248 million and fell just a single place from three to four this weekend. Avengers: Age of Ultron was the second none-mover inside the top ten this week as it stayed put at number five.

So far, the movie has grssed over $1,321 billion and is the sixth highest grossing movie of all time. However, it is closing in on Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2's total of $1,341 billion and could soon leap into fifth place.

Aloha was the second and final new entry inside the top ten this week as it opened at number six. The comedy marks the return of Cameron Crowe to the director's chair as he brings together a cast that includes Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, and Rachel McAdams.

Horror movie Poltergeist was down three places from four to seven this week and was one of the biggest fallers at the box office over the weekend. Far From The Madding Crowd, which is an adaptation of the novel by Thomas Hardy and stars Carey Mulligan in the central role, slipped just one spot to number eight.

Hot Pursuit was the third and final none-mover on the chart this week as the comedy - which sees Reese Witherspoon team up with Sofia Vergara - was at number nine. Animation movie Home was the other three place faller this week as it slipped from number seven to round off the top ten.
