Sharlto Copley says he and director Neill Blomkamp are really 'finding their stride' as they work on a third film together.

Copley & Blomkamp - who have already worked together on District 9 and Elysium - have reunited for new film Chappie: which sees Copley take on the central role.

And Copley admits that he really did have a lot of faith in the filmmaker.

Speaking to Collider, the actor said: I think we’re finding our stride now, on this third film. We went back to smallest dollar filmmaking.

"I’m doing the lead again, which I haven’t really done since District 9. This was something that I really felt would be fun.

"I knew that I could trust him completely, to make sure that the animation of what I was doing looked good. What’s blowing my mind is the animating over my movements.

"They’re using absolutely everything that I do, in a poor man’s motion capture style. I was never sure how it would translate, but the amount of me that is in the character is incredible."

Chappie boasts an impressive cast as Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, and Dev Patel will all star alongside Copley.

Copley is currently sitting on top of the U.S. box office as part of the ensemble Maleficent cast.

Chappie is released 6th March 2015.
