The U.S. release date comes a week after the twenty-fourth Bond film was released in the UK and the movie continues to enjoy huge success.

While The Peanuts Movie was another big performer at the U.S. box office this weekend, Spectre comfortably saw off the challenge from the animation movie to take the top spot.

So far, the movie has grossed over $296 million at the global box office and is one to be one of the biggest movies of 2015.

The Peanuts Movie sees Snoopy, Charlie Brown and co come to the big screen for the first time - I have to say, this is one of the animation films I have been looking forward to all year as I was a huge fan of the cartoon series when I was growing up.

Steve Martino is in the director's chair for the film and he has brought us Horton Hears A Who! and Ice Age: Continental Drift. The movie opened at number two at the end of the weekend, as it took $45 million. The Peanuts Movie was the second and final new entry inside the top ten this week.

The Martian was finally toppled from the top of the box office and slipped two places to this week's number two. Goosebumps was also down two as it dropped to number four.  There were two place slides all around for the non new entries inside the top five, as Bridge of Spies fell from three to number five.

Hotel Transylvania 2 fell out of the top five for the first time as it slipped from four to number six. Bradley Cooper's new film Burnt was also on the way down as it dropped a single place to this week's number seven.

The Last Witch Hunter, which marked the return of Vin Diesel, was one of this week's biggest faller, as the movie dropped three spots from five to number eight.

The Intern was back in the top ten as the Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro comedy jumped up twp spots to number nine. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension was the other three place faller, as the horror movie was down from seven to round of this week's top ten.
