Quinto is set to reprise the iconic role of Spock in Star Trek Beyond, which is the third feature in the new franchise.

And the actor reveals that we are going to see a conflicted Spock as he struggles to decide where his place should be.

Speaking on the red carpet in London, Quinto said: "He is at a crossroads in a lot of ways in this movie. He is torn between his allegiance to Starfleet and the Federation and his sense of obligation to the Vulcans in building new Vulcan.

"He is really badly injured in this movie, which is something that he deals with for the first half of the film. Other things happen that call into question his sense of mortality and purpose. I think he really trying to figure out where his energy can best serve other people."

The movie sees Quinto reunite with Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg, and Karl Urban, as they reprise their roles as Kirk, Uhura, Scotty, and Bones.

And the actor says that it is like working with family and has enjoyed working with his friends once again.

He continued: "It's like family at this point. It is like coming home. This is the first film that we have shot on location - we were in Vancouver rather than in Los Angeles - it was really fun and we made the most of our time together up there. It is so familiar now."

However, it is all change in the director's chair as Justin Lin has taken over from J.J. Abrams. It will be the first of the new Star Trek films not to be directed by Abrams, but he is serving as producer.

Quinto and co were on the red carpet in London earlier this week for the European premiere of the film.

Star Trek Beyond is released 22nd July.
