The Hateful Eight

The Force Awakens has now grossed over £108 million in the UK alone - taking a further £6 million this weekend - and has taken $1.751 billion at the global box office.

The movie is now the highest grossing film at the UK box office of all time and has surpassed Jurassic World on the all-time list. The Force Awakens now lies only behind Avatar and Titanic. Could it go on to be the third $2 billion movie?

Despite some problems with cinema chains showing the movie, The Hateful Eight was this week's highest new entry as the Quentin Tarantino movie opened at number two. The movie is not being shown by some cinema chains but it still managed to gross £2.7 million in its opening weekend.

Daddy's Home continues to perform well as the Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell movie slipped just a single place to number three. So far, the movie has grossed £11.8 million at the UK box office since Boxing Day.

The Danish Girl is the second of three non-movers on the chart this week as the Tom Hooper-directed film stayed put at number four. Eddie Redmayne missed out on the Golden Globe and the weekend but is expected to be in the Oscar mix when the nominations are announced tomorrow.

Joy rounded off the top five as the latest film from Jennifer Lawrence and David O. Russell slipped two places from last week's number three.

Snoopy and Charlie Brown: The Peanuts Movie falls out of the top five as the popular animation movie moves down a single place to number six. The Good Dinosaur is also down one at number seven.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 is the second of Lawrence's movies in the top ten this week, and it was another non-mover at number eight.

In The Heart of the Sea fell from seven to this week's number nine, while Bridge of Spies was back inside the top ten at number ten.
