Michelle Williams is set to return to the big screen as she leads an all-star cast in the adaptation of Suite Francaise.

Suite Francaise

Suite Francaise

Suite Francaise is based on the best selling novel by Irene Nemirovsky, and will see Saul Dibb back in the director's chair.

This is just the third feature film from Dibb, who was behind Bullet Boy and The Duchess. The Duchess was his last film back in 2008, and Suite Francaise also sees him on screen writing duties once again.

The first trailer for Suite Francaise has been released, and it promises to be a dramatic war movie not to be missed:

Williams will take on the central role of Lucile Angellier, and is joined on the cast list by Kristen Scott Thomas, Matthias Schoenaerts, Sam Riley, Ruth Wilson, and Margot Robbie.

Set during the German occupation of France in the 1940's, Suite Française tells the story of Lucille Angellier (Williams) as she awaits news from her husband, a prisoner of war.

As Parisian refugees pour into their small town, soon followed by a regiment of German soldiers who take up residence in the villagers' homes, Lucile's life is turned upside down - further complicated by the arrival of refined German officer, Bruno (Schoenaerts).

Williams has delivered some terrific performances in the likes of My Week With Marilyn, Blue Valentine, and Brokeback Mountain, but this is her first big screen outing since the box office success of Oz the Great and Powerful.

Suite Française has brought together a cast of terrific acting talent, and this is one of the January movies that I cannot wait to see.

Suite Francaise is released 23rd January 2015.
