It looks like we are not going to be seeing The Hulk in Captain America: Civil War, even though Mark Ruffalo has revealed that the character was originally included in the script.

We last saw Bruce Banner/The Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron where he disappeared at the end of the film. And while his whereabouts was a theme that was set to be tackled in Civil War, it seems that it is too big a story and is now being saved for a future film.

And Ruffalo admits that he doesn't know when we are going to see this character make a return. Speaking to BadTaste.it, the actor said: "The reason is too great to be revealed in this movie (Civil War).

"I was in the script but then they removed my character. They don't want to reveal where is he and why. I don't even know if Hulk will be back soon."

There has been lots of speculation in recent months as to whether we would see Ruffalo reprise the role of Banner in Civil War as we are going to be seeing plenty of familiar faces in the upcoming Captain America solo film.

Chris Evans will be reprising the title role, while Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Anthony Mackie will be returning to the Captain America franchise to reprise the roles of Black Widow, Winter Soldier, and Falcon.

Robert Downey Jr, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Renner, and Don Cheadle are all set to suit up in this franchise for the first time as they reprise their roles of Iron Man, The Vision, Hawkeye, and War Machine. We are going to be introduced to Chadwick Boseman and Tom Holland as Black Panther and Spider Man for the first time. Martin Freeman and Daniel Bruhl complete a very exciting cast list - it really is one of the biggest and best ensemble casts of 2016.

As for Ruffalo, we have our fingers tightly crossed that we will see this popular character back for Avengers: Infinity War as it doesn't look like The Hulk will be getting a solo movie any time soon.

We will see Ruffalo back on the big screen next year as he reprises the role of Dylan Rhodes in Now You See Me: The Second Act, which is currently in post-production.

Captain America: Civil War is released 29th April.
