The Neon Demon

The Neon Demon marks the return of Nicolas Winding Refn to the director's chair for what is set to be an interesting alternative summer film.

Refn has brought us movies such as Drive and Bronson in recent years, but this is the first time that we have seen him in the director's chair since Only God Forgives back in 2013.

As well as being in the director's chair, Refn has also penned the film's screenplay. It is always exciting when a Refn film is on the horizon as you never know what you are going to get.

I am a huge fan of Bronson and Drive and I cannot wait to see what he delivers this time around.

Elle Fanning is set to take on the central role of Jesse as she teams up with the filmmaker for the first time. She is joined on the cast list by Keanu Reeves, Christina Hendricks, Jena Malone, Abby Lee, and Bella Heathcote.

When aspiring model Jesse moves to Los Angeles, her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will use any means necessary to get what she has.

The Neon Demon will compete for the Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival, which kicks off next week. It will be a third consecutive film for Refn to compete for this prestigious prize - following in the footsteps of Drive and Only God Forgives.

The Neon Demon is released 8th July.
