The Revenant is already one of the 'must-see' January movies as it marks the return of filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu to the director's chair.

The Revenant

The Revenant

By the time The Revenant is released, it will have been a year since The Birdman hit the big screen - a movie then went on to scoop the Best Picture and Best Director Oscar earlier this year. I really cannot wait to see what this director delivers with his latest project.

We may have a bit of a wait before The Revenant hits the big screen, but the brand new teaser poster has been unveiled to whet our appetite even further.

The Revenant is inspired by true events and follows frontiersman Hugh Glass, who is left for dead after a bear attack. Leonardo DiCaprio is set to take on the role of Glass as he teams up with Iñárritu for the first time.

This is the first time that we have seen DiCaprio on the big screen since his Oscar nominated performance in The Wolf of Wall Street... he is tipped to be in the Oscar race once again. Will 2016 finally be his year?

The movie sees DiCaprio reunite with Tom Hardy, while Will Poulter, Lukas Haas, and Domhnall Gleeson complete the cast list.

Inspired by true events, The Revenant is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man's epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team.

In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption.

Iñárritu is one of the most exciting filmmaker around and The Revenant is promising to be a brutal and visceral watch.

The Revenant is released January 2016
