There has been a lot of talk about a solo Black Widow movie in recent years as well as a lot of disappointment that this project has still not been put on the Marvel release slate.

The Russo brothers have worked with Scarlett Johansson on The Winter Solider and Civil War and believe that scheduling is the only issue standing in this film's way.

When asked about the possibility of a solo Black Widow film by Collider, Anthony Russo said: "It's a no-brainer, right?"

Joe Russo continued: "I don't think [it'll take] much. I think it's just a function of where on the slate it goes. She's a bad-ass."

We were introduced to Black Widow back in 2010 when Johansson appeared in Iron Man 2. She has gone on to star in Avengers Assemble, Captain America: The Winter Solider, Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Captain America: Civil War - becoming a fan favourite along the way.

The fans have been calling for this solo movie for quite some time as Marvel are yet to release a film with a female character at its core.

While we are going to get a Captain Marvel film a little later down the line, 'when are we going to get a solo Black Widow movie?' is still a question that a lot of fans want answering.

As for Anthony and Joe Russo, they returned to the director's chair with Civil War last week - a movie that is enjoying critical and box office success.

The duo are set to take over the Avengers franchise for the first time and direct the two Avengers: Infinity War movies. They are set to hit the big screen in 2018 and 2019 and filming is expected to get underway later this year.

As for a solo Black Widow film, I guess we are just going to have to wait and see and keep our fingers firmly crossed.
