Evangeline Lilly is set to reprise the role of the Wasp alongside Paul Rudd in the sequel, which will hit the big screen in 2018.

Reed is back in the director's chair for the film and says that he has always seen these two characters as a team. And we are going to be seeing so much more of this character second time around.

Speaking to Modern Myth Media, the director said: "It's something we're excited about. For me as a comic nerd, I always thought of Ant-Man and Wasp as a team and that's a lot of what the second movie is really about is how they work together, what their personal and professional relationships are like."

"To show her finally fully formed in this movie is really exciting. We really get to introduce this character into that universe.

"I mean we've introduced the character, but we haven't seen her with her full power set and everything. So to me, she's not a supporting character in this movie. It's every bit as much her movie as it is Scott Lang's."

Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the first Marvel film to feature a female character in the title. It is still unclear if we will see her feature outside the Ant-Man franchise at this time.

Ant-Man hit the big screen for the first time in 2015 and we have seen Rudd appear in Captain America: Civil War earlier this year.

Work on Avengers: Infinity War is on the horizon but we still have had not confirmation on which characters we will be seeing in the upcoming two-part film.

As for Ant-Man and the Wasp, the film will be released in the U.S. on 6th July 2018 - there's still no word on a UK release date. It will come after the release of Avengers: Infinity War - Part I.
