Comedy film legend Adam Sandler is making his return next month with the release of Netflix original movie The Week Of, in which he plays a devoted middle-class father who’s determined to stick to tradition and pay for his daughter’s wedding, despite the consistent prodding of the wealthier and more successful father of the groom. Chris Rock takes on the role of that antagonist, and whilst they enjoy friendly banter, a series of events lead to the pair having to work together along with their respective families to go through one of the longest and most challenging weeks of their lives.

This week, Netflix dropped a brilliant new trailer for the film, giving fans a glimpse of what they can expect from Sandler’s latest addition to his acting catalogue. You can check it out below:

As well as the trailer, a new image from the film was released, showing Rock and Sandler in their respective roles:

Sandler not only stars in the flick, but wrote it alongside Robert Smigel, who also serves as director. Sandler also produces alongside Allen Covert, and joins an all-star cast which is also made up of the brilliant Rachel Dratch, Steve Buscemi, Allison Strong, and Roland Buck III.

Netflix have been enjoying a lengthy deal with Sandler for almost four years now. Back in 2014, he was signed up by the streaming service to put together four exclusive films for the platform, and he has since renewed that deal to make yet another four flicks for the company.

When The Week Of drops, it will follow on from western comedy The Ridiculous 6 and 2016 release the Do-Over. Last year also saw the release of Sandy Wexler, but all three of the films failed to light a fire in the bellies of critics. Still, Sandler must be doing something right, as Netflix look to be investing in him for the foreseeable future! Let’s hope The Week Of can break the tradition of bad reviews and bring in some positivity for Sandler and his future on the streaming service.

The Week Of premieres exclusively on Netflix on April 27, 2018.
