Hanks - who is known for his nice guy roles in 'Philadelphia' and 'Forrest Gump' - is desperate to show fans a different side to him by taking on the part of an evil antagonist in the famous franchise in the near future.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper, he said: "I want to play a villain in a James Bond film. I want to be the guy who says, 'Before I kill you, Mr Bond, perhaps you would like a tour of our installation where the vents are wide enough for a man to crawl through. Unfortunately you will not have that opportunity, Mr Bond'. I want to be that guy."

However, it seems the legendary star has changed his mind about his future projects over the past few weeks as he admitted recently that he finds villains "boring."

He said: "The problem with villains in motion pictures is they are two-dimensional."

But Hanks is convinced he'd be able to pull off the performance without any trouble, providing he was allowed to explore the character in more depth.

He explained: "I would kill those roles if they wanted me to do it. But I would need some other things - I mean, who would I get to play? I don't get to examine anything."
