Suicide Squad will see David Ayer return to the director’s chair and will be scheduled after we have seen Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice hit the big screen in the spring of 2016.

Ayer’s latest movie Fury is set to drop next week and he has been behind movies such as End of Watch and Sabotage in recent years - however, Suicide Squad would be the first time that he has tackled the superhero/comic book genre.

Dawn of Justice will be the next DC Comics movie to hit the big screen and the sequel to last summer’s Man of Steel. Ben Affleck will take over the role of Batman while Gal Gadot will bring Wonder Woman back to the big screen.

The announcement of the Suicide Squad movie comes just days after it was announced the Wonder Woman would be getting her own spin off film after the release of Dawn of Justice.

As for Hardy, he is set to return to the big screen this autumn in The Drop, and has also finished work on London Road, Child 44, and Mad Max: Fury Road.

He is currently filming the double role of Ronald and Reginald Kray for Legend, and can be seen in season 2 of hit TV series Peaky Blinders.
