Hiddleston teams up with del Toro for the first film for upcoming gothic horror movie Crimson Peak, which is set to hit the big screen this autumn. This is the first time that we have seen del Toro in the director's chair since Pacific Rim.

The British actor revealed that the way the director works is very 'inclusive' and he made sixteen hour days 'fun.'

Speaking to Collider, the actor said: "He is amazing. I mean, that probably isn't a secret from everyone else who's ever worked with him but he's like this great Mexican bear of passion and warmth. He is just so inspiring, he loves his job and, I think, as a working experience and collaboration he's one of the most inspired and inspiring people I've ever worked with.

"His knowledge about everything is so deep, he knows how to do everyone's job and he's very, very special, really inclusive. Just everything, from the very first moment I met him, has been about enthusiasm and expansion and love and a good time, as well. This crew was working 16-hour days and they would follow him into war, 16-hour days never felt so short because it's such fun."

Hiddleston will take on the role of Sir Thomas Sharpe, a mysterious outsider who sweeps central character Edith Cushing away as she tries to escape the ghosts of her past.

The actor is joined on the cast list by Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam, Burn Gorman, and Doug Jones.

We haven't seen Hiddleston on the big screen since Muppets Most Wanted at the beginning of 2014, but he has a whole host of project coming out way this year.

He has already completed work on movies High-Rise and I Saw The Light. High-Rise will see the actor work with director Ben Wheatley in what is an adaptation of a novel by J.G Ballard, while I Saw The Light will see him play Hank Williams in a biopic about the musician.

Hiddleston is currently film TV series The Night Manager and looks set to reprise the role of Loki in Thor: Ragnarok, which will hit the big screen in 2017. The movie will see him reunite with Chris Hemsworth but no director has yet been announced.

Crimson Peak is released 16th October.
