Turbo

Turbo

Turbo has held off tough competition from Captain Phillips to top the UK box office.

Turbo is the latest project from DreamWorls Animations - a studio that has already enjoyed huge success in 2013 with The Croods - and has taken the #1 spot.

It was a tough battle between the two films with Turbo just edging out the Tom Hanks movie: Turbo grossed over £.8 million while Captain Phillips took £3.4 million.

Captain Phillips had to settle for second as the movie sees Tom hanks return to the big screen to team up with director Paul Greengrass for the first time.

The movie opened the BFI London Film Festival and sees Hanks take on the title role in this incredible true story.

It was all about new entries in the top three this week as Escape Plan, which sees Sylvester Stallone star with Arnold Schwarzenegger, opened at three.

Prisoners slipped three places this week from one to four, while Sunshine on Leigh was also down three at five.

There were also three place drops this week for Blue Jasmine, Filth and Rush at six, seven and eight.

Boss was the third and final new entry on the chart this week at nine, while Le Week-End rounded off the top ten.
