Twentieth Century Fox have this week dropped the brilliant official trailer for their upcoming thriller Unsane, directed by Steven Soderbergh and shot completely on the filmmaker’s iPhone. Starring Claire Foy in the lead role, you can check out the new teaser for the movie below:
With a screenplay by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, and with Joseph Malloch serving as producer, Unsane looks to be one of the most compelling films of 2018.
Telling the story of a young woman called Sawyer Valentini (Foy) who hopes to escape her troubled past with the gaining of a new job, things start to quickly unravel as she’s involuntarily committed to a mental institution and confronted by her greatest fear. With delusions completely obscuring her reality, she’s forced to come to terms with the fact that not everything she sees could be a product of real life, but instead a trick of the mind.
Authorities are unwilling to help and those she tells of her experiences aren’t ready to believe her, so the woman is forced to confront the fears head on. That however will prove more difficult than it may seem, as twisting perspective and shocking turns come thick and fast.
Promising to force viewers into asking questions about their own perceptions of reality, as well as their survival instincts and that very system we all think will kick in and take care of us in our times of need, we imagine anxiety will be at an all-time high when Unsane comes to the big screen.
Foy stars alongside an incredibly talented cast including Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins and Amy Irving.
Unsane is released in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on March 23, 2018.
